Tournaments
August 14, 2008 on 5:59 am | In Uncategorized | No CommentsWhen we started our on-line store in 2002, you could count on two hands … maybe some toes, the number of kayak fishing websites. Now, in 2008 there are so many it’s hard to keep up. It’s great that the sport has grown and become so popular. With the new websites developing, comes kayak fishing tournaments. We sponsor a bunch of them and are proud to do so. I thought I would blog today about the ones coming up in the next couple of weeks.
Plastic Navy is a website in Southern California and has a tournament series appropriately called the Plastic Navy Tournament Trail. Their next tournament will be held in Mission Bay on the 16th: Plastic Navy
Another local group in Southern California is the Baytubers.com - a group of float tube and kayak fishermen. Their BIG annual tournament is on the 23rd. This group has tournaments throughout the year and a monthly halibut submission. Baytubers

If you live in New England you know about the Mass Bay Striper Shootout!
This is the fourth year for the shootout and is held on August 22-24. They camp out at Winter Island in Salem, Mass and you can read all about it here: Mass Bay Striper Shootout This tournament is put on by our friends at New England Kayak Fishing.
At the end of the month is a tournament up in Moutcha Bay - Canada. You can read all about it on this site - Canadian Kayak Anglers
From the site: “Join us for The Original and still The Only kayak fishing derby held in Canada. Past years have seen Chinook Salmon in excess of 30 pounds capture the title. Back for a 5th year in a row, this event promises to be the most exciting yet, with top name sponsors providing valuable prizes. And not to be missed, the Sunday evening Awards Ceremony and Potluck is a great way to round out the weekend.”
How about some Tarpon Fishing in Galveston Texas? Congrats to our Hook 1 Crew Member Steve Mullins for catching the ONLY fish in a tournament of kayakers and boaters. Check out the thread on the Texas Kayak Fisherman website: HERE and watch the video on YouTube here: You Tube
